Challenges : The geological conditions for Adit-3 was unfavorable for underground excavation in the Initial reach of about 150 - 200 m out of 942 m and materials consisting of mixture of sand, silty sand / sandy – silt (fine – coarse grained), and thin veneer of silty clay to clayey silt (clayey soil near the surface.), also accompanied by fractured, shattered rock mass material present to have heavy void ratio, which appears to highly permeable / more clayey layers and causing saturation & ground movements. In addition to above, the soil/rock mass in this reach of tunnel is under heavy tectonic stresses and seepage conditions and squeezing in nature.
Status : Design part has been completed Successfully within the stipulated time and construction is under progress
